On Sunday, July 6, 2014, the Robert Kline Family Center at Heritage Memorial Church in Washington Court House was given an official baptism of sacred dedication to the Lord's service as well as christened with a Fayette County Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting. More than one hundred members of Heritage Memorial Church; state and local civic, political, and CCCU denominational dignitaries; and members of the Dr. Robert Kline family were on hand for the momentous occasion in the newly remodeled fellowship hall.
The redesigned multipurpose building, which evolved from what was once a separate gym/kitchen and bus garage, now offers far more accessibility and utility to the church events that can be hosted with an emphasis on the Youth population of Fayette County – the vision of the building's namesake, Dr. Robert Kline.
The Robert Kline Family Center, with a capacity of 595, now includes a comfortable meeting room, Youth Pastor office, Youth Café and Chapel, prayer room, new restrooms, increased storage, and a remodeled and up-to-date kitchen. The Café comes complete with brightly colored designer table/chairs/booths and a refreshment serving counter as well as several freestanding games reminiscent of the 1970's – foosball, pinball, and a pool table. The Chapel is enhanced with a stage and movable seating and is complimented with a state of the art multimedia setup. According to the Building Project Manager, HMC Trustee Matt Cockerill, the redesigned structure now totals 11,956 square feet – remodeled space is 4,248 square feet, new space is 3,608 square feet, and the existing gym is 4,100 square feet.
While the home church will keep the facility well used by the Youth Ministry; the gym, kitchen, and meeting room will also be available for numerous receptions for weddings, funerals, and other church family events. This portion will also be available to rent for occasional community functions and corporate/small group meetings. As one of only two or three facilities of this size in the county, the Heritage Memorial Church Center has been and will be host to outside events but with established policies on use and activities condoned as it is a facility dedicated to holy outreach.
