In September, the Caribbean islands of Dominica and St. Croix were hit with two major hurricanes, including Hurricane Maria which struck the island of Dominica as a Category 5 hurricane with sustained winds of over 150 miles per hour. Both islands were devasted by these storms. There are sixteen CCCU churches in Dominica and one CCCU church in St. Croix. Nearly every church was damaged, and many churches were severely damaged.
CCCU is raising funds and mobilizing relief efforts to aid the recovery in Dominica and St. Croix. $7,000 in emergency supplies were delivered in October. Rev. Steve Palmer will depart for Dominica on November 7th to assess the damage work out the logistics for work teams which will help rebuild churches in Dominica. Money raised will be used to purchase building materials needed to repair the damaged churches. Following Rev. Palmer's visit, more information will be provided about work team needs.
