Like most people I have a cell phone or some would call it a mobile phone. I take it almost everywhere I go. I can’t tell you how many calls I get or how many calls I make in a day.  In this world of texting, I receive and send more texts than phone calls most days. I use my phone for many things. I use it for communication and getting information from the web. The calendar allows me to schedule my daily activities as well as future events months and even years ahead.  My contact information is saved to my phone and I can save notes, write papers and make power point presentations. I can get my emails and even save documents and files that I need to keep. There is a calculator, a clock and map for my convenience. The camera is amazing and I have saved way too many photos. There are apps for games, listening to music and I love my podcast app. I have several Bible apps and I even have a prayer journal I use that is on this phone. I could go on but my phone just died. In checking it out I realized the phone is still good but I forgot to charge the battery last night. Don’t worry I plugged it in to recharge the battery. Batteries need to be recharged.

We have a spiritual battery that needs to be recharged or refreshed as well. Acts 3:19 reads: “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” Even though we rejoice in our work and family there are times we need to set aside for refreshing. There are times I need to be refreshed and plug in my spiritual battery. I want to work effectively for God and I want to be strong for the task He has called me.

Just to mention a few ways my spiritual batteries are recharged:

  1. The reading of God’s Word.
  2. Prayer and time with God.
  3. The fellowship of believers.
  4. Sharing Christ with others.
  5. Being encouraged and lifted up by others.
  6. Singing and worshiping with others.

I would like to invite you to a place where you can get your spiritual batteries recharged. The place is Mount of Praise Camp. Mount of Praise will be held in the Ministry and Performing Arts Center on the Ohio Christian University Campus. The dates are Tuesday, June 21 through Sunday, June 26. Your spiritual batteries will be recharged by the fellowship of friends and good relationships. You will be encouraged and strengthened through the anointed preaching of God’s Word and the singing and powerful time of worship.

Psalm 73:28 tells us: “But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.” Mount of Praise Camp is a place where you and I can draw near to God and have our spiritual batteries refreshed and recharged.

I have been discouraged and weary and have walked into a Mount of Praise Camp service and heard the songs: ‘Amazing Grace, Victory in Jesus, It is well with my soul’ and many more and then walking out encouraged and strengthened by the singing and preaching as well as the fellowship shared with others.  Sometimes we need to have our spiritual batteries recharged but many times God wants to use us to help refresh and recharge someone else’s spiritual battery.  Mount of Praise Camp allows us to not only receive but also give God’s blessings.

I am reminded that my phone is still good, it just needed recharged.  I am thankful that God does not throw us away when we are low or empty.  His desire is to recharge our spiritual battery so we can be used for the building of His Kingdom.  Well, I have a phone call so my phone must be recharged and it is as good as new.

I look forward to seeing you at the Mount of Praise Camp June 21-26.
